Looking for Truth?

If you have been involved with a group led by a self proclaimed prophet of God OR have come to the conclusion that you have been following a false prophet, MUCH of what you are about to read from the scriptures will be familiar to you. What I will ask you to do is try to read these passages with "fresh" eyes and ask God to reveal the truth to you without the slant given to these passages by those claiming to be prophets. Read them for exactly what they say and understand that when God inspired these passages He actually intended to communicate with each person reading them.

If you are on this site and were not lead here by "The Truth about False Prophets" printed brochure, you can request a free copy at: d_seaford@msn.com

There is much material on William Branham, Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses and the New Age Movement near the bottom of this site, but please take the time to read the scriptures and the truths written here before you start your personal research on any of these.

Matthew 24

1 ¶ And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 ¶ And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not.
27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together.
29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. {with…: or, with a trumpet, and a great voice}
32 ¶ Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. {it: or, he}
34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
43 But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
44 Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.
45 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods.
48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;
50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,
51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

What is a Cult?

According to Dr. Ron Rhodes of Southern Evangelical
Seminary in Charlotte, North Carolina, [one of (if not THE) greatest places of higher learning in Christian apologetics in the world], there are five standards by which we can safely measure any group to see if it embraces the characteristics of a “cult.” If a group has all of these characteristics, it is most probably a cult and should be treated as such. The group (according to Dr. Rhodes) will:

1. Deny the absolute authority of the Bible.
2. Deny salvation by faith alone.
3. Deny the efficacy and existence of the Trinity.
4. Devalue Christ’s atoning work and His deity.
5. Claim to have new revelation from God.

A Prophet of God?

by Dave Seaford

The Christian Doctrine brings many difficulties to those who would seek to show themselves to be modern day prophets of God. While there are those in the charasmatic movement that make this claim, even adding to God's word on a daily basis, this claim simply does not hold with any normal interpretation of scripture. Others, including those in the oneness movement and Jesus Only movement at times seem to make these same claims. While these things may seem tempting to the flesh and our human gnostic desires, lets be careful to always "test the spirits" (1 John 4:1). Witness Revelation 22:

12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
15 For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.
16 I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star.
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. {out of the book…: or, from the tree of life}
20 ¶ He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Sites Concerning Wm. Branham

Some have come to believe that Wm. Branham was either a prophet of God or even the second coming of the messiah. Check out these sites and then compare these facts with the word of God which Branham professed to believe as God's truth.

http://www.watchman.org/profile/branpro.htm This is a brief history of Wm. Branham, his beliefs and other historical information.

http://www.apologeticsindex.org/b05.html A self-proclaimed prophet, Branham became a major influence in the Latter Rain Movement. In his teachings on Joel 2:23, he defined the "latter rain" as the Pentecostal Movement of his day. Branham proclaimed himself the angel of Revelation 3:14 and 10:7 and prophesied that by 1977 all denominations would be consumed by the World Council of Churches under the control of the Roman Catholics, that the Rapture would take place, and that the world would be destroyed. He died in 1965, but many of his followers expected him to be resurrected, some believing him to be God, others believing him to be virgin-born.

http://jesus-messiah.com/html/branham.html This link answers the following questions:
1.) Was he a prophet of God or a false prophet?
2.) Did he preach the true Apostolic Message?
3.) Does his doctrine match what Jesus or the Apostles taught?
4.) Did he believe what other Apostolics believe?
5.) Is the serpent seed doctrine Apostolic, Jewish, Gnostic, or Wiccian mysticism?

Some even say that their messiah has already come. Witness:

Mathew 24:29-35 “Immediately after the distress of those days “`the sun will be darkened and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ “At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it is near, right at the door. I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away!

Daniel 7:13-14 “In my vision at night I looked, and there before me was one like a son of man, coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into his presence. He was given authority, glory and sovereign power; all peoples, nations and men of every language worshiped him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and his kingdom is one that will never be destroyed.
